Oberau is the smaller, picturesque sister to Niederau, the first and biggest of the villages in the Ski Juwel area. These traditional and charming villages are ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers, although there are testing runs too.
Niederau is just 3km away and accessible by free ski bus service. Auffach, at the end of the valley, has some more challenging slopes and is now linked with Alpbach’s ski area to form the Ski Juwel Area.
Oberau village is dominated by the view of the 250 year old church baroque church against the backdrop of the mountains. The church is often called the ‘Cathedral’ due to its size. This charming village is the ideal place for skiers just starting out on the slopes, or for improvers looking to hone their craft.
The accommodation here is budget friendly and you will find true Austrian charm in each of our properties.
In recent seasons, the Wildschönau has won awards for ‘Best Family Ski Area’ and ‘Friendliest Staff’, as well as one for excellent piste preparation. All guests receive the FREE Wildschönau Card, which includes guided winter walks and snowshoeing, FREE entry to local museums as well as discounts for local attractions and activities.
