Tignes Ski Holidays
Tignes is set way up high in the amazing Savoie Alps in France. There are three main villages that make up Tignes: Le Lavachet, Le Lac and Val Claret. They are all linked up with the bus service that operates 24hrs a day giving easy access to the skiing on offer. Val Claret is located at the top of the resort and offers the best access to skiing as it is at the foot of the glacier. It has a number of shops, restaurants and bistros. Le Lavachet has chairlift links to Toviere and a variety of cafes and restaurants. Tignes Le Lac is a bustling and lively part of the resort with a twice weekly market, shops, bars, restaurants and a modern sports centre. Ski Chalets, hotels and apartments are all available to book for those perfect Tignes ski holidays.
Val Claret has some good early evening atmosphere and happy hours. The Crowded House and Fish Tank’s are also popular venues. Tignes Le Lac has good après bars. Head for the likes of The Loop that has a pool table and good happy hours on offer. Tignes Le Lavachet has TC’s Bar and the Lavachet Lounge. Off the slopes you can go ice skating on the lake or ice driving in Les Brevieres. There is also a leisure centre with pools, slides, wellness and fitness facilities.
This incredible area gives access to some of the best skiing and boarding in Europe. 300Km of pistes are waiting for you in the playground that is the Espace Killy made up of Tignes and Val D’Isere. The underground funicular from Val Claret whisks you up to over 3000 metres and the glacier where there are blue, red and black runs as well as fantastic runs back down to resort itself. Beginners will find the nursery slopes on Tignes Le Lac and Le Lavachet excellent due to their snow sure, and gentle conditions. The Espace Killy is one of the top places in the world for intermediates. There is usually always great snow on the glacier where there are reds and blues. The run down to Val Claret is a lovely cruise and you can get your legs burning on the Sache black run for a challenge. The off piste possibilities in Tignes really make this a fantastic area for experts. The whole of the western side of Tignes has lots of off piste and there are various ungroomed off piste zones for the less experienced. Join one of the off piste groups to take advantage of the area on offer to you or hire a guide and go a bit further afield. One of the big adventures to do in life is to go away from the Tignes area and head for Champagny that is linked to the La Plagne area but definitely do this with a guide as you are miles away from civilisation!
