The Sportresort Alpenblick  is a big, family-run hotel with great facilities and a real focus on wellness. It’s on the edge of town, and a walk to the cobbled centre of Zell am See takes around 20 minutes, but there’s a ski bus that’ll pick you up from right outside the hotel and take you into Zell, and to the slopes too.

When it comes to the décor, think modern alpine style. There are comfy sofas, log-burning fires and chairs that hang from the ceiling in the lobby and bar, and wood-panelled walls, cow print benches and tartan bedspreads in the bedrooms. Looking for some me-time? The spa area’s got heated indoor and outdoor pools that are perfect for a post-ski swim, as well as a sauna, steam room and loungers.

The restaurant here prides itself on serving up fresh, locally-sourced food, with a real focus on healthy dishes. There’s a hot and cold buffet breakfast each morning, as well as a 6-course evening meal where you’ll tuck into seasonal, regional classics. Veggie and vegan options are always available, and they can sort gluten-free options too – just ask. After dinner, why not hit the games room and go head-to-head with a round of pool, table football or darts. Ready, set, match
