Tucked at the top of the valley, Mottaret is one of the most well-connected resorts in the Three Valleys, and it’s good value too, which means it’s a popular pick.
There’s a real range of hotels and apartments here with high-end and wallet-friendly options sitting side-by-side. Purpose-built in the 1970s, Mottaret was designed with convenience in mind, but that doesn’t spoil the view – timber-cladding and natural stone details mean the buildings really blend into the natural landscape.
When it comes to après there are a couple of bars where you can enjoy a slopeside drink and live music, and a nightclub for later on. And if you fancy more of a party, the Folie Douce après bar is just one lift away. Off the slopes, take the bus to Méribel where there’s the Olympic Park to make a splash in the pool, swap skis for skates at the ice rink or enjoy some me-time at the spa.
There are plenty of fab tree-lined beginner-friendly slopes near the village, and its compact size makes it easy to explore. And with dedicated fun zones and a great ski school, it’s a family favourite. All ski lessons start in Méribel and the ski school meeting point is a couple minutes’ ski away down a gentle green run, or a 10 minutes’ ride on the free ski bus.
